Page 1 of 1 In 1974 Matra showed a very interesting version of their Bagheera. The exterior of the small three seater sportscoupe remained unchanged, it was the engine that made it stand out. The eight cylinder mounted right in front of the rear transaxle is made up off two of the Simca engines found in the 'normal' Bagheera. The engine are fitted on one crankcase, the two crankshafts are connected by pinion gears. This resulted in a doubled engine output. This 'U'8 engine has never found its way into a production car.
