The only non factory prepared car to compete in the DTM championship is the TT-R. The car is built by well known German tuner Abt. In the first two seasons the car was tweaked and in the latter half of the 2001 season the TT-Rs were getting on pace and were challenging the dominating Mercedes-Benz for victories. Enough events in the 2002 season were won by by the TT-R driven by Frenchman Aiello to win the championship.
