The Lancer EVO series has evolved over the years as a result of competing in the World Rally Championship and other leading motorsport events worldwide and has at-tracted a wide following of enthusiast drivers. The production model is currently in its 7th edition in Japan and has been shipped in limited numbers to other world markets by Ralliart (MMC's motorsport affiliate) as a base model for use in competition.

Having commenced shipments of Lancer Evolution VIII to the United States, MMC decided to give the model its world debut at the Los Angeles Show ahead of its unveiling on the Japanese domestic market, scheduled for early 2003.

The U.S. market specification Lancer EVO VIII derives from the Japanese market Lancer EVO VII GSR. While sharing major parts and components with the upcoming Japanese market Evolution VIII, the U.S. model has been developed exclusively for the U.S. to meet crashworthiness and emissions requirements, user needs and preferences, and road and traffic conditions in that market. With a price tag of under US$30,000, Lancer Evolution VIII offers unmatched driving pleasure.

 EVO vs. SRT-4 Reply

Please how can you compare a SRT-4 to an EVO, isn't worth the extra money, hell yeah it is. While I give props to the SRT-4 for being an awesome car, but it's no where near the Evolution. 1st off the EVO is faster, the EVO is capable of running 1/4 mile times at 13.5 seconds and lower, I've witnessed one in person lay down a 13.3 second 1/4 mile bone freaking stock. The SRT-4 lays down 14.0 to 14.2 second 1/4 mile times, the fastest I've ever seen it tested at is 13.9. Not bad, but not EVO level. Now here is where the money really starts to count in the handling and braking department, the SRT-4 is no where near the EVO in those departments, the EVO brakes harder and handles better than cars that cost over a $100,000 more than it does, on the race track, the EVO hangs with cars costing well over $50,000 and higher, the SRT-4 could only dream of doing that. While the SRT-4 responds well to modifications, so does the EVO, with basic bolt ons, EVOs are running low 12s, and if you know anything about turbos, then you know that the 4G63 is one of the most tunnable turbo engines around. The SRT-4 is great car, but not an EVO, a bhetter match for thye SRT-4 is the WRX, and honestly I can't say for sure that SRT-4 even has the WRX beat.

they are both awesome, but i'd just like to say that the SRT-4 is much more worth the money for a turbocharged 4 cylinder, the Evo costs a full 1 grand more, and if you think about it, isnt 148 a bit fast for a neon?

couple questions... what year is your wrx? is it an STi? have you done much to it or is it stock? i love WRX's and just dont like the look of the evo... i also dont like mitsubishi that much. so i may be a bit biased but if you have a WRX STi and you hook it up (not that theres much that can be made better) i would find it hard to believe that it could not compete with the evo
