A practice which lay the base for Ferrari's domination in 2002. The McLaren fielded in the first races of the 2003 season is an evolution of the MP4/17 used in 2002, with various bits of the upcoming MP4/18 already bolted on.

Like Ferrari did last year, McLaren proved it a very successful tactic. The first to races were won by the MP4/17D; in Australia David Coulthard was victorious and in Malaysia Kimi Raikkonen scored his maiden victory. The first European race will probably see the introduction of the MP4/18.

"always liked mclaren never liked ferrari. so die hard fans here i see...must've been hard for the past few years watching a futile fight....anyway kimi's my man since sauber. better watching someone fight than watching a red car driving alone. i dread to think it would be like that again this season. all hope is on the new mclaren to make its ""quantum leap"". go kimi!"

I must say last season was tough for a mclaren die hard such as myself, but what a start. Kimi rocks and I hope the new car will too. Later

I'm looking forward to seeing the new car. Supposely McLaren is focusing on reliability rather than performance as a main factor in their strategy against the F2003 GA which is fast but fragile due to it's light chassis. If Mclaren wins the constructor and my man KIMI wins the driver championship man it would really make my year.
