The success of this attractive two-door coupé confirms this model concept: to date more than 187,000 male and female drivers have decided in favour of the C-Class Sports Coupé. The majority are new Mercedes customers, as this model enjoys an impressively high capture rate.

Technically the Sports Coupé is based on the Saloon and therefore offers all the pathfinding innovations of the C-Class. In stylistic and conceptual terms the Sports Coupé goes its own way, however, and has established itself in the C-Class model family as an energetic 'youngster' with a special emphasis on dynamism and design. The compact dimensions of the body, which is approx. 18 centimetres shorter than that of the Saloon, as well as muscular proportions characterise the sporty and dynamic appearance. Likewise the typical slatted radiator grille with the central Mercedes star and the striking ellipses of the headlamps clearly mark this two-door model out as a member of the Mercedes Coupé club.

Six four-cylinder engines - including one petrol and two diesel direct-injection units, a CDI five-cylinder powerplant produced by Mercedes-AMG and a V6 power the Sports Coupé. The output range extends from 90 kW/122 hp to 170 kW/231 hp. From spring 2004 the output of the C 220 CDI increases by 5 kW/7 hp to 110 kW/150 hp. For drivers with particularly sporty inclinations Mercedes-Benz has developed the EVOLUTION sports package specifically for the C-Class Sports Coupé. This includes 17-inch light-alloy wheels, wide-base tyres, a reconfigured, lowered sports suspension, a leather-covered sports steering wheel and other high-quality accessories with which the two-door model displays its sporty attributes particularly impressively. The EVOLUTION AMG sports package includes additional body and suspension components made by Mercedes-AMG.
