This is the GT40 Mk III acquired new by Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan. He cherished the car and covered around 5,000 miles in it but never drove it in the rain. It passed through various hands during the 1970s and eventually ended up in the United States after a spell in British ownership. Today it is part of the permanent collection of the Petersen Automotive Museum. Chassis 1105 is seen here during a rare outing, at the 2012 Quail, a Motorsports Gathering.
