Chassis:
Sold new to Scuderia Filipinetti, which was one of Ferrari's favoured customers, chassis 1016 was raced in 1970 by Mike Parkes and Herbert Mueller with limited success. For the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it was fitted with the low drag, 'Coda Lunga' or 'Long Tail' body. Sadly, Parkes crashed out avoiding a back-marker during the third hour, while running fourth overall. Later in the year, the car was used by Solar Productions for the legendary motion picture 'Le Mans'. In 1971, chassis 1016 was campaigned by Herbert Mueller Racing with very limited success.
One of just three 512s not updated to the 'M' specification, this 512 S was later sold to the United States. In the following years, it was owned by noted collectors like Harley Cluxton, Bob Rapp and Brandon Wang. In more recent years, it was campaigned by the likes of Jean Guikas, Olivier Cazalieres and Carlos Monteverde. Today, chassis 1016 is in the hands of an Italian enthusiast, who refitted the Coda Lunga body.
