Chassis:
Built ahead of the 1981 season, this 512 BB LM was acquired new by Robert Donner for his Rennod Racing team. It was fitted with Porsche 935 type brakes and BBS supplied 17" front- and 19" rear-wheels to clear the very large discs. Meticulously prepared and carefully optimised, chassis 35525 was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Belgian trio Pierre Dieudonne, Jean Xhenceval and Jean-Paul Libert. Boasting a striking European University livery, it finished ninth overall and third in the IMSA GTX class. Following its Le Mans outing, this 512 BB LM did not appear in contemporary events again. During the early 1990s, it was acquired by noted American collector Ed Davies. He had the engine tuned by the legendary Bob Wallace, who managed to pry 510 bhp from the flat 12. Davies campaigned the car in historic events for a decade, before selling it to French trader/collector Jean Guikas in 2003. A few years later, it was acquired by his Swiss colleague Christian Traber, who raced chassis 35525 in historic events. The current owner bought the car in the early 2010s. Beautifully prepared by Belgian specialists Gipimotor, it has since regularly campaigned it in the Classic Endurance Racing series.
