Clothed by Pourtout with a fabulous Cabriolet body, this Delage D8 S joined the stable of French pioneer collector André Surmain in 1966. He was an award winning chef, who famously opened the Le Lutece restaurant in New York in 1961. During Surmain's ownership, the engine and gearbox were rebuilt. In 1978, it joined the equally impressive collection of Albert Prost. He used the car to win the Mougins Concours d'Elegance. Following Prost's death in 2002, his collection continued to be maintained to his demanding standards. Beautifully preserved, the rare Pourtout bodied Delage D8 S will now be offered by Artcurial in their Retromobile sale along with many other cars of the Albert Prost collection. The pre-sale estimate is a more than sensible Euro 1 - 1.2 million.
