Chassis: XKD 604
The first works D-Type built in 1956, chassis XKD 604 served mainly as a development vehicle upon which the other five 1956 specification cars were based. It was raced only once, during the Daily Express Trophy at Silverstone where Desmond Titterington placed second. Although long believed to have been scrapped, it was more likely sent to Ecurie Ecosse as a spare car. During the 1980s, it was retrieved from the Ecurie Ecosse storage facility and completely restored. Now in American hands and fitted with a fuel-injection engine, it is regularly used in historic events.
