Fitted with a 911 S engine, hill-climb gears and a rollcage, this 911 T/R was delivered new to Volkswagen dealer and successful privateer racer Paul Ernst Strahle. At the time of acquiring the 911 T/R Strahle had retired from racing himself and fielded the car for Roland Bauer. Joined by Porsche driver Herbert Linge, Bauer scored a class win in the 1969 Austrian Grand Prix. Under new ownership, the car's racing career continued and it was eventually campaigned in 45 contemporary events. Among the subsequent owners were restorer Manfred Freisinger and Porsche collector David Mohlman.
