Chassis:
Completed early in 1954, chassis XKC 401 was the D-Type prototype, which was never raced in period although it did compete in the official Le Mans test at the D-Type's debut. It was first tested in early in April and served as the development vehicle for the subsequent D-Type production models. Retained by Jaguar, XKC 401 was later also used for promotional purposes and displayed at the Geneva Motor Show in 1958 and 1966. Today, it is part of the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust collection and regularly demonstrated at events like the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
