Forever looking for the legendary 'Unfair Advantage', Roger Penske commissioned a lightweight T163 for Mark Donohue's 1969 Can-Am campaign. It was one of several Lolas campaigned by Penske and Donohue during the 1969 season. The slightly lighter T163 was only raced once by Donohue, at Mid Ohio. He started third after out-qualifying the other Lolas by quite a margin but then retired after a driveshaft failure. The car was not repaired and then sold along with a spare tub to Edo di Pasquale at the end of the season. He rebuilt the car around the spare tub and raced it in 1970. The original lightweight chassis was retained by Di Pasquale and repaired many years later. In 2008, it was offered at the Bonhams Quail Auction where it was acquired for $150,000 by an American collector. After an outing in the 2009 Monterey Historics, it was sold to Australia.
