Chassis:
Completed on February 13, 1956, this D-Type was sold to Curt Lincoln, who was a successful tennis player and member of the Finnish Davis Cup team. In order to avoid excessive duty fees, he instructed the factory to make the car look used before shipping it to Finland. Lincoln raced the car with considerable success in local events and even campaigned on ice course with spiked tyres. It was extensively campaigned by Lincoln and other Finnish drivers before it was upgraded by the factory with a 3.8-litre engine in 1959. In this guise, it continued to be raced in Finland before it was repatriated by English collector Nigel Moores in 1966. He had the tired car restored and during the process the tub and front subframe were separated. As was not uncommon with D-Types, each was used to construct a new car, which were both labelled XKD 530. The situation was finally rectified in the early 2000s, when both cars were once again owned by the same person. He had CKL carefully restore and reunite the correct chassis sections of XKD 530. The former ice racer has since been shown and raced at events on both sides of the Atlantic.
