Although completed early in 1954, this Pinin Farina bodied 500 Mondial was not raced until the following season. It was eventually used once or twice by Italian privateer racer Gino Casarotto. He last raced the car at the 1956 Mille Miglia, where he had to retire before reaching Rome. In the following years, it passed through various hands but always remained in Italy. Its most recent custodian, a noted Italian collector, acquired the car in 1983. It has since been repainted and also competed in several editions of the Mille Miglia retrospective.
