Chassis:
Fitted with a Barchetta body built by Touring, this 340 America was delivered new to French gentleman racer Pierre Louis Dreyfus, who more famously competed under the pseudonym 'Helde'. It raced at Le Mans in 1951 and 1952 but on both occasions failed to reach the finish. Following final outings later in 1952, it was retired from contemporary racing. Although it changed hands, it remained in France and in 1964, it joined Pierre Bardinon's fabulous Mas du Clos collection. In his ownership, it was restored for the first time. During the 1970s, it was sold to Italy and then on to Belgium. The current, Italian custodian brought it back to its country of origin. He has regularly raced the car in the Mille Miglia retrospective and more recently, it was restored to its Le Mans configuration.
