Chassis:
One of the new cars built for the 1969 season with the radiators mounted in the tail, this A220 was first seen at the official Le Mans Test. Patrick Depailler set the 10th fastest time in the brand new car. It was then raced at the Spa 1000 km where Jean-Claude Andruet and Gijs van Lennep finished 21st overall after starting 17th on the grid. At Le Mans, it was piloted by Depailler and Jean-Pierre Jabouille but a broken con-rod caused an early retirement. Not raced again in period, it has more recently been actively campaigned by its French owner, whose family also campaigns and earlier A210.
