Although built in 1953, this car sat unsold on the lot of the Beverly Hills Siata importer for several years. It was eventually acquired by a Southern California fireman, who wasted no time and soon after taking delivery swapped the delicate Fiat V8 for a stronger and cheaper to run Chevrolet 'small block'. It changed hands again in the 1960s and was then acquired by Rick McBride in 1979. He managed to track down a correct replacement engine, which he had fitted in the late 1980s early 1990s. At Christie's 1993 Monterey sale, it was sold to Paul Forbes. His primary interest was the 8V engine, which he needed for his Ghia bodied Fiat 8V. Following the removal of the replacement engine, the Siata was fitted with a Ford small-block V8.

In 1998, the Ford-engined Siata was acquired by its next owner. He spent the following years to track down another Fiat V8 engine and many associated parts like a transmission, steering box and rebuilt Jaeger instruments. These were fitted in the Siata chassis and much time was spent to turn the car into well performing driver. By 2012 the car was offered for sale by Fantasy Junction. The subsequent and current owner is a great Belgian enthusiast with a particular interest in Fiat 8Vs and Siata 208s. He had the car restored once more, bringing it back to its original specification. It has subsequently been shown at Pebble Beach and Villa d'Este.
