Chassis:
Built to full competition specifications, complete with an all all-aluminium body, this 250 GT SWB was never actually raced in period. It was acquired new by an enthusiast from Rome, who used it on the streets only. During its early life, it passed through a succession of Italian owners, before it was sold to the United States in the late 1960s. In 1972, it was acquired by longtime owner John Andrews. He kept the car in a shed and it was eventually retrieved in pieces and sold to the United Kingdom. Chassis 1849GT was subsequently entrusted to DK Engineering for a restoration. Halfway through the process, in 1999, it was acquired by the current Dutch owner, who oversaw the completion of the restoration.
