Chassis:
Through London based dealer Gordon Whatney ltd. this Ulster was delivered new to C Trehorne Thomas in June of 1935. Registered CML 719, which was in sequence with the works racers, the car was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Thomas and co-driver Michael Kenyon. They finished a solid tenth overall and fifth in class. The car was then returned to the factory and placed in storage in Feltham, which suggests that the car was on loan rather than sold to Thomas. In February of 1936, it was offered for sale and it found a new owner later than year in one E.C.W. Stapleton. He would continue to campaign the car in local events with considerable success through to the outbreak of the war. Stapleton eventually sold the car in 1949, and the subsequent owners would go on to campaign the car for many more years. After a succession of British owners, it was sold to the United States in 1972. Several owners and thirty years later, it was sold to the most recent custodian in 2003. He has since campaigned in events like the Mille Miglia retrospective.
