Chassis:
First raced at the Sebring 12 Hours, this R8 was campaigned throughout the 2000 season on both sides of the Atlantic. It finished second at Sebring and then placed third at Le Mans. Later in the year, it scored outright wins in the ALMS rounds at Sears Point, Mosport, Portland, Petit Le Mans and Laguna Seca. At the very end of the year, it also scored a victory in the Race of a Thousand Years at Adelaide. For that race, it boasted a unique alligator inspired livery. For the 2001 season, it was entrusted to Johansson Motorsport, who campaigned the car in the European Le Mans Series and at Le Mans. Finished in Gulf colours, it scored a victory in the Most round of the ELMS with Stefan Johansson himself and Patrick Lemarié behind the wheel. Returned to Audi at the end of the year, the hugely successful chassis 403 was eventually restored to the unique alligator livery used at Adelaide.
