Chassis:
Built for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this R8 was first seen in action at the official test. For the race proper, it was entered for Frank Biela, Tom Kristensen and Emanuele Pirro. They qualified second and would go on to win Audi's first 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was raced once in North America and it was then restored to its Le Mans winning configuration and retired to the Audi museum. In 2017, it was pressed back into action to celebrate Tom Kristensen's successful career at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Dane returned to the wheel of Audi's first Le Mans winner.
