Used during the second half of the successful 1977 by Niki Lauda, this is the seventh and final 312 T2 built. Lauda raced the car to victory in the German Grand Prix and scored a further three second place podium finishes in the British, Austrian and Italian Grands Prix. For the opening rounds of the 1978 season in Argentina and Brazil, it was entrusted to Carlos Reutemann. He scored a win at Interlagos in the last contemporary outing of this chassis. Shortly after its successful career, chassis 031 was sold to the current, American owner who owns it to this day.
