Chassis:
Completed in June of 1985, this is the very first of the Jaguar Group C cars built by TWR. Although TWR Jaguar intended to enter Le Mans year, the cars were not ready in time. Chassis 185 eventually made its racing debut in August at the Mosport round of the World Championship. A wheel bearing issue thwarted the effort of drivers Martin Brundle and Mike Thackwell. Later in the year, the car was also raced by the likes of Alan Jones and Jean-Louis Schlesser. The best result came at the last outing of the year when Thackwell, John Nielsen and Jan Lammers finished second at Selangor. This would also be the final outing of its career as brand new cars were built for the 1986 season. The very first XJR-6 was retained by TWR and displayed in their museum until the company's bankruptcy saw the collection broken up. It is today part of phenomenal British collection of Group C cars.
