Chassis:
Retained by Shelby American, this GT350 R was part of the six-car Cobra Caravan that toured the country from mid-1965 through to the first months of 1966. Among the five other cars included in this public relations effort were a Cobra Daytona and a Ford GT40. In June of 1966, chassis SFM5R213 was sold to Peru through importer Benito Lopes along with several other Shelby cars. The only documented outing for the car in South America was in the 1966 Inca Rally with first private owner Julio Martinetti. It was then acquired by racer Bratzo Vicich, who campaigned the car in local events into the 1970s. In the early 1980s, the car was sold in largely original condition back to the United States. During the mid 2010s, it was restored from the ground up by John Brown of Thoroughbred Restorations. In 2017, it was shown at all the major events for GT350s and scored maximum points at all three. Early in 2018, it was consigned to the RM Sotheby's Scottsdale auction.
