Chassis:
This CO2 Grand Sport Delage was delivered new to an Australian customer through Melbourne based agent Joubert and Joubert. During the 1940s, it was acquired by well-known Sydney motorist and founder of the Vintage Sports Car Club of Australia Owen Platt Hepworth. He successfully entered the rare Delage in numerous events varying from concours d'elegance to vintage races. He also had the engine modified to improve the performance.
In 1995 chassis 12034 was found in Melbourne. It was carefully restored and fitted with a competition spec intake. A new, period correct Tourer body was crafted by master body builder Richard Stanley. Upon completion the car was entered in the 5th Annual Australian National Concours d'Elegance at Werribee Park in Victoria where it was judged best vintage car and second outright car. It had covered over 10,000 miles when it was offered in a 2004 Bonhams & Goodmans auction. Believed to be one of only 2 surviving Grand Sports, the elegant Tourer was acquired by a German collector. She brought the car to the 2007 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este where it is pictured above.
