Chassis:
Lancia D25 chassis 0002 actually started life in 1954 as a D24 with the chassis number 0006. In its original configuration, it was driven to victory in the Mille Miglia by Alberto Ascari. In the following months, the sports racer was upgraded to D25 specification by fitting with a 3.7 litre version of the V6 engine. Juan Manuel Fangio and Eugenio Castellotti gave D25 chassis 0002 its only outing during the Tourist Trophy at the end of the season. Unfortunately mechanical problems ended the race prematurely. In 1955 the car received a revised nose but it was never raced again. Still owned by Lancia it is seen here at the 2010 Retromobile show.
