Chassis:
This is one of a handful (some say as few as two) of Limited prototypes built by Oldsmobile in 1908 and the only known survivor. Although its early history is not known, it is believed to have been sold to avid collector Barney Pollard through a friend by General Motors. The very rare machine changed hands only once more before it was acquired by the current owner in unrestored condition. He had the Limited Prototype fully restored by Alan Schmidt. Unfortunately, a fire during the restoration destroyed the car's original body. Using many period photos, the coach-work was carefully recreated. Meticulously restored, the Limited Prototype was offered by RM Auctions' 2011 Amelia Island sale. It found a new owner for $544,500 (including premiums).
