Chassis:
This was the first of a total of nine B188s built by Benetton in 1988 and 1989. It was retained by the factory until 2001 when it was sold to a customer without an engine. A correct DFR engine was sourced but B188-01 changed hands again before a complete rebuilt was started in 2008. The brightly liveried machine was returned to full running order. In 2009 it was brought to the Goodwood Festival of Speed by broker Florent Moulin, who had the car for sale at the time. He shared driving duties that weekend with Takuma Sato.
