One of the new cars built for 1955, chassis 000 10 made its debut at the season opening Argentinian Grand Prix in long wheelbase and open wheel specification. Hans Herrmann drove the car to fourth well behind the victorious Fangio in a sister car. With a slightly shorter wheelbase, Moss later finished 2nd in this car at the Belgian and Dutch Grands Prix. Now restored to 'Streamliner' configuration, chassis 10 is one of five W196s still retained by the factory. It is seen here at the 2004 Nürburgring Old Timer Grand Prix where it was demonstrated by none other than Hans Herrmann.
