Chassis:
Through Vasek Polak, this 1979 specification 935 was sold new to Ted Field's Interscope team. Liveried in the team's familiar black colours and sporting the starting number 0, it made its competition debut at the 1979 Daytona 24 Hours. For the occasion Field was joined by Danny Ongais and Hurley Haywood. Starting from 8th, the talented pairing piloted the car to a brilliant outright victory first time out. In the remainder of the 1979 season, this performance could not be matched but Field did manage to finish second on two occasions. At the end of the year, the Daytona winning car was replaced by a newer and more competitive 935 K3. The car was retired from contemporary racing and sold on. Following a spell with American Porsche collectors, it was eventually sold to Europe where it succession of owners raced it in historic events from the mid-2000s. In more recent years, it has returned to American ownership and was last seen in the care of specialist Bruce Canepa.
