 Under rated horsepower.

In truth the 2002 Camaro Z28 makes closer to 345 horsepower stock vs 310. Chevy seriously under rated the car.
70,000.00 in RX7 not necassary to run 10 second quarter mile

For the person who posted that the rx7 had 70k in it to run 11s is on some serious drugs as the best built motors are a 10th of that price. I have a 500whp Rx7 that will run 10s all day on pump/AI and single turbo. Do some research and you will see that 450whp Rx7 with a good driver is capable of 10 second passes in the 1/4mileal day. The power to weight is awesome and the car squats and goes. I bought my Rx7 with no motor for 6500 and put 7000 into it to get it on the road so I have roughly 15k tops including car. Out of the factory they will run 11s with the proper bolt on parts, tune and street drag radials on the stock motor and twin turbo setup.

this car looks much better than the concept and production 2009 Camaro whose sharp edges make it look like a Cadillac. this was a handsome car if they had kept the styling in this vein the new one would have been too.

Black sunshine, before you go spouting off I suggest you get your facts straight. Fact: RX7 NEVER came with a tripple rotary. The 20B was only in the Cosmo. The 13B was the most powerful engine to sit in an RX7. Second: I don't think you realize what would be involved in putting a 20B (or even 13B) into a Miata. You would need to: - buy a Miata - buy a used 13B or 20B - rebuild said 13B or 20B - Adapt the transmission from the miata to the B engine or adapt the B engine trans to the miata chassis - replace the drive shaft and rear end. You WILL destroy some part of the drive line otherwise - install all wiring, computers and other hardware - upgrade struts and springs all around to handle new power of the B engine - add subframe braces to counter act the torque that a turbo charged B engine would produce (especially the 20B) - Install a new exhaust system - Install a new radiator - New rims and tires on the rear end for traction Do you honestly think you could do all that for LESS than you could buy even a 99 Camaro SS for? i think you're living in a fantasy world. There are a couple of turbocharged FE3 Miata projects that have webpages set up for them. Do some research about them before you go dreaming. A 20B is capable of much more power than a FE3, and the FE3 has been destroying transmissions left and right.

Okay, easy people! First off YES you can run 13s in the quarter mile in a 100% stock SS/Z28 Camaro! I've seen it a hundred times at New England Dragway. And yes there's also a '94 RX7 twin turbo running in the high 11s... The guy with the RX7, however, has invested about $70,000 into the car ON TOP of the price of the car!! Take a BRAND NEW 2002 Camaro and with 10% of that ($7000) and you can be running 11s EASY!!!! Also... I'd like to see the repair bill for the RX7 when that guy blows a $65,000 engine! OUCH!!! Even the most sophisticated LS1 twin turbo putting put 500 horsepower won't cost you more than $25,000! But at a red light next to that BMW, Infinity or Acura the Camaro, bone stock for $28,000 will embarrass any German or Jap car worth $40,000 Even the new Z350 is weak in comparison!

If there is anything I know, it is f-bodies. If you don't believe anything I posted then please go to the www.camaroz28.com/ message board. Then go to the LS1 section. All your questions will be answered. Ask what the average stock 2001-2002 LS1 stock powered f-body runs in the 1/4 mile with a good driver. You will find your answer. You obviously know little of the f-body if you believe they only have 310 hp. They have a lot more than that. And lets say that I was liar and it only had 310 hp....How many cars that you cost around $30K new have over 300hp???? The answer is zero. To say the LS1 f-bodies are under-powered is like saying that the new 911 Porsches don't handle well in the twisties. You must drive a new Lamborghini Diablo to be talking crazy like that. Please go to your local drag strip but before you do, I recommend going to www.camaroz28.com/ After you do, you can believe whatever you want. I know what these cars can do.

12s in the 1/4? are you on crack? I say prove it. You gotta be on something... I mean come on... too much power? No such thing. You must be on crack. Rated at 310... just isn't enough. Even if it was under-rated by 10-15bhp, that's just not enough. This is a heavy car. Sorry man... needs more power.
 Needs more power????

The new LS1 f-bodies run on average high 12s to low 13s bone stock in the 1/4 mile with a good driver. No car anywhere near the price of these cars can get close to those times. Besides the C5 Vettes, the only stock cars to run those times are high end exotic supercars in which are rarely seen on the street. These cars are also significantly under-rated power wise. If you go to your local drag strip, the LS1 f-bodies are running the track with the fastest times. There are now modified street legal LS1 f-bodies breaking into the 9s in the 1/4 mile. So if anything, these cars have too much power and that is why the insurance is so high on them. I mean I picked my car up almost fully loaded for like $33,000 but I pay almost $8,000 a year for insurance. That is why most young people can't afford these cars anymore, because of the sky rocketed insurance rates. Many insurance companies won't even insure a young person with a car as powerful as this. Believe me, power isn't something the LS1 powered f-bodies lack. They are dangerously powerful stock and modified they are potentially the fastest cars to roam the streets.

it needs more power and less weight. IT's a nice car, all things considered. But I want more. For 2/3 the price of this I can build up a classic and out perform you in just about every dynamic. Or I can take a miata and drop in the 3 rotor wankel out of a 90's model RX-7, make a few adjustments totally blow you away. Then I'd also have a complete sleeper when I hit the street races. Don't get me wrong the Camaro's a nice car, and if I had the money I'd probably buy one. But I'd make sure I had enough money left over to give it what it needs. I'd strip out the exhaust and put in a true dual exhaust instead of the restrive single muffler system they got now. I'd replace several body panels and parts with light weight alternatives and I'd adjust the cam to give me the same power as the ZO6. It's a good car... just not good enough.
