The 2002 Dodge Ram SRT 10 Concept as displayed at the Detroit Auto Show had the best tonneau bed cover I've seen yet for the Dodge Ram. I just picked up my new 2005 Ram last month and would like to put this same cover on my truck, however, I fear it was unique to the concept vehicle, and not ever made available.

If anybody has any info on this cover, I would love to hear from you...thanks, Driftwood

PS-I'm impressed that Ultimatecarpage.com has all the pics of this truck and the great article...

Say what you will, no one has a truck like this , not Ford, not Chevy. I bought a 2002 4 by and put a deposit on this truck when I heard about it over a year ago. Well the wait has been worth it. My dealer says that they are going to be one of the few dealers in Canada to get it in as it will be in short supply, and I am going to get it. I have bugged the dealer since my deposit was put on it and I did so not knowing what the price is going to be. I told them , make darn sure that NO ONE takes it out for a test drive, I have my deposit on it. Well they say it can be ordered in the spring so I assume , April. Can't wait.

I think that the Ford Lightnings look much better than the SRT. Dodge is desperately trying to compete with Ford. The real compitition is between Ford and Chevy. Even Toyota makes a better truck than Dodge.

this is not the first time dodge has raised the performance bar on the truck side of the market. In the late 1960's dodge dropped a 426 Hemi in one of thier half ton pickups, and Ford and Chevy laughed at them. In 1978 Dodge introduced the Lil' Red Express truck, with a beefed up 360, which turned out to be the fastest American production vehicle that year. It makes me laugh to hear the Ford Guys brag that they were the first ones with a muscled up sport truck when they introduced the lightning. I'm sure now that the boys at Dodge have raised the bar in the automotive world once again, Ford and chevy will scramble to come up with a cheap knock off they can call thier own, and a few years down the road will say that they were the first to do it. You Ferd and Chivy guys can eat my Dodge Dust.

Actually man, a lot of the late model Dodge trucks I've driven have had either a 25 or 32 gallon tank. It wouldn't suprise me if they put one of those in this thing. The other thing is, I've ridden around in several Magnum V10 Dodge 3/4 & full ton trucks, and it's not that loud, even at 90 (which I've done on MANY ocasions). Granted this one is the Viper V10, aluminum block and slightly more displacement. But I still doubt it would be that loud, specially because 70 is pretty much the standard speed limit over here, and 75-80 is what most people end up driving. Besides, I don't know anyone who drives 55mph. Houston has recently been reduced to 55mph due to EPA regulations but everyone is still driving AT LEAST 70. And the kind of person who buys a truck like this is not the kind of person to poke around like a granma on the freeway all day. People who would buy a truck like this are people like me and my friends. One of whom has a HIGHLY modified Chrysler 440 in an '89 Dodge Ram Charger. As a general rule we don't know how fast we're going cause the speedo stops at 85mph. But it's not hard to control by anymeans. So I doubt it would be that bad at speed.
 This Versus the HSV Maloo???

Jeez, the HSV would get wasted! this here is the bees knees ( really hot, for those unfamiliar with aussie lingo) and i hope the new chrysler/dodge revival on trakc in oz can hopefully squeeze this into the lineup, better work on the quality......
 Mmmm nice

OK so it's fast. It really does kinda pick up the ground in front of you, chew it up, and spit it out the back at an alarming rate. It's like someone pulling the carpet out from underneath your feet. The only trouble is the practicality of it in Europe. In America it's great, cos you don't have to worry about corners, fuel bills, or motorway cruising. However, I don't live there. This thing EATS rear tyres. 500hp is great, but 500hp burning up those not-really-sticky-enough tyres at the back isn't so much fun. It also averages about 14mpg if you drive it nicely. If you drive around like your pants or on fire all the time, which ,let's face it, you're gonna, then expect fuel consumption around the 7mpg mark. This is a proper pain in the ass, because the fuel tank only holds about 20 gallons. 20 gallons in a Ford Fiesta will last you through to next Christmas, but in one of these it'll only get you around 200 miles. 70 to do 200 miles is a lot if you ask me. And another thing. These are AWESOME for cruising along at 50 looking mean, and growling nicely, but when you get to 80 or 90 you're talking about upwards of 3,500rpm, and that starts to get loud, uneconomical, and very, VERY tiring after a while. Oh well, for sprinting around, it's a big thumbs up. Even if you'll never actually use the pickup capability.

"Hey, I wouldn't consider my self a ""truck man"" but a bed for hauling with that kind of power, just can't be beat. I look forward to eating up some 6 cylinder sedans but I cannot find anything on the pricing or release date of the SRT 10. Can anyone help me????"""

I could not believe my eyes when I saw the Ram SRT-10, finally another American car company is putting out a truck that can keep up with the F-150 Lightning. The estimated 0-60 time in the Ram was 5.0 sec., two tenths of a second faster than the Ford, how cool is that? Last month in a magazine that I am subscribed to, they had an article mentioning the Silverado SS, so finally all three American companies have come around and put out a killer truck! Amen to that! Now I am just waiting for a magazine to bring out a comparison test between the two.

This truck is awesome. But what did you expect, remember the Little Red Truck from '75 - '77? Dodge created the sports truck. Ford's Lightning? well, Ford's about to get their @$$ handed back to em.
