They're were 3 of these spirit editions. Type A,B,C. 300hp/240lb. torque 7400rpm. RX-7 next generation should be the veilside fortune body w/ a little longer front, and really cool rear lights. RX-7 used to compete w/ Skyline's, NSX, Supra, and 3000GT known as a GTO. The next RX-7 is almost done its going to be a R-Spec GT w/650hp/550lb. torque. This is going to be a suprise for Mazda. RX-7 is back and better than ever.

the argument about the displacement is irrelevant, whether it's 1.3 or 2.6 litres these cars are true masterpieces, the handling, the acceleration, the environment inside the cabin, you are truly driving a road racing machine, beautifully tuned and astonishingly responsive.. 1.3 or 2.6 litres, boinger or rotorhead, the spirit R is a sexy beast

nice job on this one mazda!! very very nice!! This is the ULTIMATE driving machine!!! Having 280 hp on a 1.3 liter engine is like having a V-8 on the back of a bike! This car is amazing, hopefully you guys(mazda) will make another car just as kick ass as this one. PZ!!!

The third generation RX-7 looks as stunning today as it did the first time I saw it in 1992. I remember the moment exactly. I was helping my friend Boris get a sofa into a moving truck and all of a sudden I yell Hey boris look at this Ferrari pulling up... or Lamborghini... or whatever it is. A few weeks later when I saw the ad for it in a Magazine and saw a MAZDA logo on the bottom of the page I forever had respect for Mazda. In the mean time it's too bad Ford bought them and is trying to suffocate the company. The new RX-8 should be a very nice sports car.

I love thid car. It accelerates like heck,it has great handeling and great looks. I think they should start making them again instead of the RX-8 its a nice car but its nothing compared to Mazdas best car ever.

Traditional swept volume measurements are confused when tackling rotary engines. A rotary engine has three chambers created by the gap between the rotor itself and the rotor housing, as opposed to a the chamber between the head and piston ina reciprocating engine. The motion of the rotor moves the chamber itself (with the mixture contained in the chamber) from the inlet port, compresses the mixture, moves the chamber in line with the spark plugs to ignite the mixture, then moves the mix to an exhaust port... there are three chambers doing this constantly. So it's a very different process to a traditional reciprocating engine. That said, in motorsport and as far as many government bodies are concerned, a rotary engine in displacement is consider to be the equivalent of a reciprocating engine of double the capacity. In this case, RX7s are generally consider to be the equivalent of a 2.6 litre piston motor.

This car has the greatest bhp/litre rating i Have ever seen. How do you get 280 horses out of a 1.3 litre engine. This is one awesome rice rocket. Well done mazda. It has all of the power that someone would need for such a light car. And not to mention the body. It has a great design with that sweet wing. Excelent work. I want one of these so bad.
