 Faster than the Zonda?

That's why it nearly killed the Stig...
the koenigsegg WAS faster than the Zonda...

I spoke personally to Christian von Koenigsegg and asked him why the Zonda beat it. He told me that Top Gear had simply changed the time they had recorded for some reason he didn't know... He thought it was since England is Paganis biggest market they had made a deal with Top Gear in order to promote their car... Christian is a respectable man and I have no reason to doubt him.

Tough shit, but it's the truth as far as I know it.

i also heard that the koenigsegg hit speeds of around 240mph in the gumball rally. I can also say it has been put into production. I am a very keen admirer of this car and to come out with a car at their first attempt thats capable of competing with the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini etc. I also realised how lght this car is a only 1100kg! I was disappointed when i saw the Koenigsegg go slightly slower than the Pagani Zonda, but then the Zonda is another great car. Pagani and Koenigsegg are ones to watch in the future. Nice one!

I also heard that it hit somewhere around 240mph in the gumball rally in america, if this is true then Koenigsegg have done a brilliant job. Ive also realised this car is incredibly light about 1100kg. i remember when Top Gear tested it, the car was amazing! The car also matched the time of the Pagani Zonda, which i was quite surprised about, but then the Zonda is another great car. Im looking to see great things from Koenigsegg and Pgani in the future, well done on their first attempt.
 Top Speed in Texas

I heard thet during the gumball rally in 2003, the koenigsegg cc8s hit it's top speed of 242 mph, in Texas, on a long stretch of road and there is some video of it. Does anybody know any more about this?

Firstly I think this is an amazing car in both looks and performance. I am wondering does anyone know if this car was put into production???
 CC slightly different

Ive just compared the two cars and i looked at the acceleration time, forom 0-60 on the CC is 3.2 second, while the CC8S does 3.4, but this is still my favorite car ever, not to mention it looks much better
 Koenigsegg: unspellable.

I like this car, but it isn't like the Macca F1. The McLaren was made with no comprimises, just a super supercar. The only comprimise I can think of that the Koenigsegggggggggalfawizard has is the hard top roof. The Macca is a tin top. Tin tops rule. If anyone can fathom this post into something unconfusing and generally feasible, send answers on a post card to...

Engine: The unique and light weight aluminium block and cylinder heads are manufactured by the Teksid company in Carmagnola, Italy, who have also supplied Scuderia Ferrari with blocks for their F1 engines. The exeptionally strong forged crankshaft is manufactured by the Gerlach Werke in Germany known for their high quality and outstanding performance. Transmission: The specially developed gearbox by Cima relies heavily on experience from racing, especially Formula One. The 6-speed gearbox is probably the strongest and most reliable transaxle gearbox ever built for a mid engine car. The gearbox incorporates an internal oil pump for reliable lubrication, and a large oil cooler, so that it can take the strain from the brutal force of the engine. The final gear ratio is calculated to propel the car close to 400 km/h at 7300 rpm. The Koenigsegg orbital shift is a clockwork piece of fine mechanics that allows the gear stick to be mounted on a ball in a socket. This has the advantage of a knob that counter-balances the hidden mechanism, giving lightweight but tactile feedback to the operator. The mechanism is designed for rigidity and compactness, and the ball-in-socket alleviates the necessity of the standard gate solution. The gearshift mechanism also incorporates an electronic anti-theft device. Suspension: The shock absorbers are specially designed for the Koenigsegg CC and produced in Sweden. hlins racing shock absorbers are also used in Formula One, the Cart Series and in the Indy Racing League. Brakes:The power assisted brakes on the Koenigsegg CC are specially designed for the Koenigsegg by AP-Racing. The front brake system has six calipers per wheel, while the rear wheels have four calipers each. The brakes are made of high quality aluminum, with unique airflow characteristics that initially cool the wheel bearings to prevent increased heat due to friction. From www.koenigsegg.com I saw this on Top gear yesterday: I want one!

If I'm not mistaken, I do beleive the block itself originate from a Ford 281 (4.6 liters). Now the heads, the crank, and the rest are anything but Ford. But I'm fairly certain the block is. But hey, maybe I'm wrong.
 Track Record
FREDZY
25-4-2003
What sort of track record does Koenigsegg have? I am far too lazy to look into it. The car looks to be (obvieously) of the highest quality. Actually achieving a 2500 lb. weight range while keeping typical road car amentities? That is respectable. In these images, the cars fit and finish is conceptual in style, with the refinement of a German luxury car, almost like a one - off. While looks and numbers are one thing, how a car performs is another (performance =/= 0-60, 1/4 mile and top speed. Once a car deviates from a straight line, it is performing in terms of a sports car.) This car would no doubt make the average guy sh*t their pants. But say you got used to it, and decided to challenge a McLaren F1. I am almost positive a McLaren would have a drastic advantage over this CC. To tune a car to perform like the McLaren, 911 GT1 or CLK GTR takes at least a few decades worth of race - hardened, experienced engineers and team members. The only manufacturer this does'nt apply to is Lamborghini, who can't seem to get the performance aspect right at all. The concept of the CC is great, but in reality, for all it's worth, it would no doubt have to go through the refinement of time before it could compete with the real GT's, or at least have the respect of the true GT follower.

Pushrod V8

If you think this is the same engine in your MUSTANG please wake up and smell the coffee... this is a worldclass powerplant The specially developed semi-load bearing supercharged and intercooled Quad Cam 4 valve 4.7 liter V8 engine delivers 655 smooth horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 750 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. The unique and light weight aluminium block and cylinder heads are manufactured by the Teksid company in Carmagnola, Italy, who have also supplied Scuderia Ferrari with blocks for their F1 engines. The exeptionally strong forged crankshaft is manufactured by the Gerlach Werke in Germany known for their high quality and outstanding performance. The engine's very low weight, only 240 kg, has been achieved by using carbonfiber, titanium and airplane specified aluminum alloy. Carbonfiber valve and timing covers save about 12 kg compared to conventional materials.

I must say, this is my first time looking at the Koenigsegg, it was brought up in a forum as a car that someone would love to have, and I must say this is definitely a beautiful car, the only thing that turns me off about it is the Ford engine, but I really don't care I'd definitely still take that car any day, it truly is a beautiful machine.

whats your problem with ford engines? Why dont u people look around and see what other cars use this engine, its obviously a good starting point. I dount you all would have this problem if this exact engine say started in a BMW......You guys are way to close minded

"this is a very commom design for the diffuser section of a mid engined exotic of the 21st century. It reduces the co-efficient of drag thereby making it more aerodynamic. Wind tunnel testing and handling issues for the ""strassen-version"" influence this design. Thus sthe similarity."""

Do you think pininfarina is stupid of something. Ofcourse not. So why do you think that the back of the enzo is so similar to the cc8s. Nowdays every single supercar has round lights(except a few) but the majority have round lights. IF ferrai would have thought what you thought bigsevs, ibet they would have been embarrased to show the enzo but guess what? They are damn frekin proud of the enzo and it looks and i really respect that. The back of the enzo had to be like that was also because of the pop up spoiler. The F40 and F50 had fixed rear wings so they had a totally different design. Koenigsegg designers was not planning to built a car which had the most downforce so if the enzo was built like that because of its downforce i see no evedence that ferrari copied koenigsegg!!
 enzo looks like this

has anyone else noticed that the back end of this car looks EXACTLY like the enzo.??? but i guess it would be vice versa, because this came out before the enzo, it looks like ferrari copied off of this

This is a beautiful automobile. This car is comprable to the F1, not many automobiles are able to carry that honor, except, of course, the Bugatti EB 16.4. This automobile has awesome lines and has a great overall design. I just hope that this car isn't driven on the road too much, I couldn't imagine seeing out of that microscopic rear window. But I guess it wont need to see what is behind it it will be going so fast.
 The BEST car!

i love this thing. not bad for a project spearheaded by a 29 year old, and designed by a 20 something year old Aussie!!!! It was a project funded by the Swedish government, and the V8 engine is soon to be replaced with a Subaru funded 1988 straight 12 formular one engine. look out for that in the future.. it will be awsome!!

This car is an amazing peace of engineering. In terms of finish and engeneering there is no competition on this car, not even a mclaren. The car have the same finish under and inside the doors hoods and so on ,as outside.Everything is wellthought in every little detail. The chassis and suspension is F1 specifications. The american Road and track has driven the car,and they where stunned over the building skills.Every material in the car is the lightest on the market.Only kevlar, titaniom and different aloys. Its pathethic to read some people, comparing it to a viper or something else american. The viper has a big engine and thats it!!Koenigsegg vill outperform ANY amcar!!By the way the builder of the car was inspired by a norwegian puppetmovie, when he was a kid.The movie was about a bicyclerepairman, who builded a racingcar. The motori moderni engine was an efford of subaru to enter f1.It was in its time the first F1 engine wich revd over 17000 rpm.So please dont compare it with anything.Maybe it can be outperformed by the B engeneerig EDONIS, but not in finish and design. Thanks for the word.

this is for sure the most beautiful car i've ever seen. the aerodynamics are pretty much perfect. 390km/h top speed is crazy fast. i hope this company becomes bigger and bigger until they're as succesful as ferrari. But thats unlikely to happen...unfortunately

the only Ford part left is the block. And to give you an idea of how small the company is, i ordered a t-shirt (which is beautiful by the way), and it came in a hand-written envelope with about 20 small stamps on it. By far my favorite company.

This is one beauty of a car...it looks better than a ferrari, has a supercharged v8 engine with 655 hp! The accletration of the car is also superb.. only 3.4 sec to 60 mph..the car has also made it into production good for it...though only two ppl own it..i hope to see more of this car on the road..it really is a beauty

After looking at the pictures closer I found that it looks a little like a Bugatti in the front. Just a little. And something they sould improve, srink the mirrors and mold them better with the body.

This car has so much power 655 hp, 553 ft lbs of torque out of a Ford Cobra engine. Same size as the Mustang. Looks great and could compete with Ferrari. I would like to see some race stats though, but it looks like a fighter. Great design team.

I like. This is a really sweet looking ride. I don't care if it's not as fast as a Ferrari. If the sportscar manufacturers are smart they'll buy the company up to keep it going, give em a little funding and push the cars a little bit. This thing looks like it has some real potential. Would like to see some race stats on it. Maybe height, length, and width too. It looks big in the pics. The view from above makes the car look like the cockpit of an aircraft. That windshield is massive. (Thoughts of Stealth bombers going round in my mind!!!) Never thought the Sweeds were capable of making cars this cool!!!

I like this car, and i like the fact that a bunch of people have created their dream car. However the car won't sell, and i think the company will go bankrupt after selling 2 cars to Oman or Saudi Arabia before i finish this sentence
 The flat 12

The engine, designed by Motori Moderni in Italy was aimed for an F1 career with Subaru. But Subaru called the project off and later on Motori Moderni went bankrupt. Christian and his father bought the rights for the engine but they wont use it untill they've sold a bunch of 8s. In a week an exclusive interview will be published on UCP.com and hopefully you guys will get answers to some of your questions.

I've heard that they bought the design of a canned flat 12 oh-so-close-to-being-in-f1-before-the-rules-change ferrari engine that is gonna be in what i presume to be the CC12. Outputs are apparently going to go beyond the mythical 1000 bhp mark and as an extra bonus it's gonna be normally aspirated (BTW american companies cant make NA engines).

this car is even more beautiful in real life than it is on pictures. i've seen it myself at the autorai 2001 in the Netherlands, with the doors and the engine bay open. I can understand the thoughts about the engine, but there just nothing left original from the ford engine. it has over 600 bhp, overr 600 nm's of torque and the ford mustang, one of the cars which have a 4.6 litre ford engine, certainly hasn't got that power. this car's a beauty. but ofcourse it can't defeat the 1995 McLaren F1 LM, which is the most beautiful car ever made and it will certainly always will be that way. I think McLaren is screwing there reputation with the new SLR. ciao

The David Crawford design was made to look fresh and good for a long period of time without going out of fasion. Therefor it has been tastefully designed and will stay good looking for a long time ahead.

This car is a very intriguing attempt. One thing which bothers me is the Ford engine. Oh well, its design is gorgeous, along with the CC. One of the features of the Koenigsegg cars I like best are the doors, which open in the interesting fashion. This is a marque with a bright future (at least, for now).

As my good friend Noger said, this marvel of modern engineering has yet been tested to its limits and still hasn't shown us what it came for. Nevertheless, it's beauty does not need to be proven and its design surely is original and impressive. I don't think any car, including the Koenigsegg CC 8S, will ever dethrone the legendary McLaren F1, but this sure is a car worth being made.
 Yet to be proven
Nogger

The Koenigsegg CC has unlike other supercars in it's performance league been developed with a comparativly low budget. This has prevented Koenigsegg from testing as much as they would like to, and they still haven't taken it to Nardo to confirm it's superb calculated top speed. Is it as good as they say? Is it not only a straight forward monster?
