"AM Radio reception.... a reason not to buy the Touareg? Ok, maybe so - for someone other than myself. I never felt talk radio to be all that important. As far as the car goes - it's a mountain goat offroad, and a refined gentleman onroad. I've seen it's competition, and driven them - Touareg is a hands down winner. Tell me what else you can take a 45 degree incline or 32 degree lateral with that you still feel proud to take to an evening ""out on the town"". The Porsche has similar manners, but let's face it...it looks like a frog without warts. The Range Rover? Very capable - but not much has changed over the years...in the English tradition, it still looks the same. Not bad, just not changed. I think VW has a winner. They could use a lesson on the proper launch of a vehicle - but word will get out. Same thing happened with the Passat. It took a bit, then people realized what a value it was. I'll always feel good driving it, whether I'm pulling a boat, climbing a mountain, or going out to dinner with a lady in an evening gown. WINNER KE"

this comment is reffered to the one Nvme put up. I love the Touareg, i am from italy and i had an chance of seeing one already and actually test drive it. Very smooth SUV, ut not comparable to a Range Rover. A range Rover is the ultimate 4x4 truck. Only one other SUV can be compared to it, and that is the Porsche Cayenne.

It looks prettier than the Porsche's, but it terms of dynamics, it certainly loses out a lot. The image is no problem, although it is still considered a rung below MB, BMW and Audi - it is above brands like Toyota, Seat, Skoda, Renault and many others, but in the same league as Opel. I've yet to see one in Singapore, but the first time i saw the Porsche Cayenne, i was so put-off by how un-rugged it looks. It is to the point of TAME, although i don't doubt its superb off-road capabilities that are proven to rival a Range Rover.

I wouldn't the slightest bit that, had the exact same car held the Range Rover badge, it would have been an immediate sales success, and a credit to Land rover for its achievement, but the only problem here is the VW image. END OF DISCUSSION. Well i hope that people in the market won't be blinded by the name, and will consider the car as a serious alternative to the likes of Rangie, of which it has the luxury, X5, of which it has some good road manners, and the off-roading ability to scare both of them a good deal. Mission accomplished, Kudos VW.

Toureg, vacinating vehicle, vacinating price tag. To a certain extent peple are going to start asking what are VW Group up to they are creating vehicles covering there other group companies the lies of the Phaeton and now the Tourareg. hmmm? There is no doubt about it this is a excelent vehice and people may not like the VW styling of late but hey look at this cars twin the most hidious and disasterious vehicle Porsche could have ever have dreamt up! Porsche come on!!!! The price of this vehicle starts very reasnobly coming along side the landcruiser and disco's but really it starts getting ridiculous further up the range ok, engines the new petrol power packs that will appear will propel this vehicle skywards similar to VW other luxury offering (Phaeton) One comment on styling it oculd have been made a little less bland, VW are doing brilliant things with there sports derivatives of production vehicles why not bring this accross the board and evolve the styling in a sporty fashion, just a thought!

just compare the number of comments made on this site to the Cayenne on and this car (the same). It clearly reflects Volkswagen's problem that it is lacking image, and people are not commenting on the Cayenne as such but purely because it is a Porsche. If I would ever be in position to have to choose between the Tuareg and the Cayenne (may God forbid), it would go for the Tuareg, basically because it is fitted with an appropriate diesel engine which at least keeps fuel comsumption within certain acceptable limits, and provides much more grunt than the Porsche.
