Sorry for coming in on this subject so late, only just saw the link, anyway, I have a R32, there are many comments written here from people who really are just guessing about stuff,Firstly, the car can go alot faster, and mine does, I got the software modified to enhance the fuel perfomance, and at the same time it ups the BHP, mine is currently standing at 289bhp and sits nicely at(280kmh) 175mhp without noticing any strain at all., there are also compressor kits available now, turbo and twin turbo kits available, the engine can be taken to 600bhp with just a twin turbo kit and no further action needed. But let me asure you, the standard model is a scream, and it is great to see the looks on M3 and M5 drivers faces when you pass them.

wow an amazing 3.2 liter golf, poket rocket. it dose 153mph and o-62 in 6.6seconds (the same as a ford escort cosworth) i love it! when it pulls up beside u at the traffic lights it looks like a normal golf then, red, red amber, green, then it flies bye. aparently vw tried to fit a v8 in the golf but they coulden (oww, i realy wanted to see that) but insted they came up with this which is still a beast.. (no dought they will trie to fit it in again, one day) i think vw is brilliant and i wounder what they are going to do with its new diesle v10!!!!!!!

The Dalbach Golf is a MK4 with a turbocharged Audi 5cyl 20v that's been bored out in it. You would have to spend a /lot/ of money to bump any Golf or GTI, even the R32, up to 900HP.
 R32 or BMW M3?

Well, it's a tough one. But ofcourse I'd choose this one just to be unique in having a 3.2L V6 engine mounted on a tiny little car like the Golf. This car probably has better performanse then the manufacturer are pointing out. I just love the design and the engine! Thumbs up!

i dont know of any other GOLFs or GTIs in regards to the specs you gave. this car has a 0.397 cc (0.397 Litre) increase in displacement over its smaller predecessor the VR6 2.792 Litre 200bHp engine. this means that this engine only has a 41.0 Hp gain, not 100Hp. lastly if you ever find that GOLF with a 1.189 Litre engine (3.189 - 2.0 Litres=1.189) please notify me, otherwise get your facts straight. no bs
 Re: top speed?

That a car 800Kg heavier has the same topspeed, is because weight has nothing to do with topspeed. The topspeed depence on the aerodynamics of the car (and engine power). For acceleration though weight is the essential factor in its performance. So a car with the same engine and less weight will accelerate faster, if the aerodynamics are more or less the same, the cars will have the same topspeed. Just some explanation... VR6_Dude
 Speed limit

The reason all VW's go about the same speed is because like most European cars it's electroiclly limited to 155 (135 +/- a few in the states). Get a chip tuning and get rid of that limit and you may be able to go much faster. My VW will only reach 132 mph with plenty of power and rmp's to go, the computer just keeps it from going any faster (If I can remember correctly it will reach 155 with U.S. gearing).

This car was not built for speed i gather becouse its 2 more liters than the other golf and only goes about 5 mph faster but look at the BHP and its nearly a 100 more so this car was built for exel and power not speed. plus you can moddify this car to 900bhp look at the golf dahlback now thats a fast car..
 Great Car - abit Pricey

This is a great looking car - VW have outdone themselves are far as appearances go. I have owned three Golfs and this one is by far the best looking one. My concern is that a Golf that costs over $30,000 is insanely over-priced. That figure puts it into a new price class where competion is so fierce that not even this great looking car can compete.
I do feel for you guys, honest!

The R32 Golf is certainly an awsome piece of kit from the guys at VW, they have put quite a bit of thought in this car and it is roumoured that this isn't the end of cars of this nature in the camp. As regards getting one, England really hasn't got any either i was lucky enough to see enough of them in Germany in the past couple of months to sufice, in reality it seems a much more relaxed vehicle than fron the pictures, although saying that the sounds certainly is anything bu relaxed it's impressive! SOmeone mentioned the A3/S3 it's being replaced sometime next year can't remember and this means a long wait for the new S3, advice do not even think about getting the old one, nice car but very dated now. As regards the V6 in the phaeton, completely underpowered with the phaeton it really isn't about the top speed, the W12 brings it out in that vehicle, then turn thi aorund and think W12 in a Golf no that truely would be in the realms of insanity along with the Clio V6! VW keep them coming!

Finally some word on the future of the R32 in america. Well right now it is mainly rumors but there is talk to bring the car to america as a limited production run much like the 337. the only downside is the price, around 30 thousand. now i dont know about you but id take that money and wait for audi to bring the A3 or even S3 to america(also supposed to happen).

The R32 is an excellent car in all aspects but for some reason Volkswagen has deemed the U.S. not ready for a car of this type. As to bringing one to the United States, you would have ship it(which can be rather expensive) and also have it approved by the D.O.T. through a battery of tests and modifications as needed(to get final approval this could take up to a month). These tests along with shipping will add 10 to 15 thousand to the price of the car. Insurance on this car should be under the same category as all other golfs, but some providers may require you to list the car just like a specialty car as it is imported. Probably the most difficut part in obtaining this car is finding a company which will import the golf and perform all modifications. So why dont we get this car? Only Volkswagen knows the answer to that.
 How do I get One?

It is very striking to hear that the Pheaton, a car some 800 Kg heavier than the golf R32, can achieve the same top speed with the golf, on the same V-6 engine. I would please like to hear from you about this. The new R32 is an otherwise terrific car, end of discussion! Thank you VW.
