Don't try to compare the V70R to ANY car. Based on price, performance, versatility, safety and a complete, well-rounded package there is NO COMPARISON. Anyone who suggests that this is an inferior car to the S6 Avant or RS6 Avant or the E55 wagon is a fool. Each of those cars cost no less than $20K more than the V70R and with some less advanced features. 4C is amazing. At the drive at Shea, the car held the road as if it were on rails. True the sedan may feel less cumbersome, but only in VERY EXTREME maneuvers and to the trained driver. I have driven the 9-5 Aero, the W-8 wagon, the 540i wagon, the 330 wagon, the Allroad... and none stack-up to the V70R. Save your time and don't compare this car to any other... it is without peer. I sold my 850R wagon in December and will be driving my new V70R in 6 weeks. I can't wait! Minor tunes and I'll have a 350bhp wagon with a flat torque curve from 2000rpm to 5200rpm. Beat that Audi!! |
R-Volvos |

V70 R. I was quite surprised of it's engine. They still use 2.5 liters? Why? They already have the V70 T5, which is a 2.5 liter turbo. I don't understand. What's the point in tuning the same engine over and over again? They could have put a 3 liter V6, or something, like Audi. I dont think Volvo can reaaly compete with it's engine, but otherwise it can: The suspension system, it self-adjusts 4000 times in a second. YOu can choose from Comfort to Sport, and finally to Advanced, if you wanna go racing or something. Also there is Volvo's first-class-safety. Volvo's are very safe. The V70 R was designed more like a very comfortable estate car with a powerful motor. Volvo isn't a sports car manufacturer, so that's why they don't put huge motors in their cars. Besides, who needs more than 300 hp's in a family-estate-car? Of course Volvo puts all that electronics in the car (ESP, STC, Radio/CD/TV, Telephones, automatic gears...) and stuff... This is not a sports car! If you want a sport-estate-car, buy a Mercedes E55 AMG Touring or C32 AMG Touring, or Audi RS6 Avant. Same thing with the S60 R: It's no serious sports car, but it sure looks good... |
if you think this is good.............. |

watch out for the VOLVO V90, what!!!!! V90. bet none of you all have ever thought of it. it will be an extreamly luxury estate which would compete with the pheaton estate and the mercedes benz GST. It is set to come out in 2005-2007 as volvo flagship estate. |
it will never beat........................ |

audi. audi is the king of estates and fast ones too. The rs6 is just so damn nice and powerful and the volvo is far from it even if you put 5 turbos in it!!!!! |
cool |

2.5 liter inline 5 cylinder doesn't have tomean a lot of excitement, but if it isturbo charged, produces 300 bhp and 400 Nm at only 2100 rpm, than we're talking about a sport - family car. if you stop and think about what compeditors have to offer, you'll find your self looking for some cars that have 4.0 litter engines and still don't give as much perfomance as this volvo. with it's all whell drive, six speed manual gearbox you'll have a lot of fun. too bad that fun end at 250 km/h, limited. |
another powerful swedish brick!! |

THe v70r brings it all back to the days of the 240 turbo wagons and 850s. it nice to see some real performance coming from the brick factory. |
