 Oh My God
FAB 1

"OK.. this is supposed to be an experimental car, that is, a step beyond a concept car. That's the good news. The bad news is this ""thing"" is threatening to go into production. Where does one begin to describe it? How about a tasteless fusion of Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger meets Kitchen Aid? What were you people thinking? And the bleached wood all over the place? Does this thing sail? You know, in the 1960s TV series, ""Thunderbirds"", Lady Penelope's pink Rolls Royce, FAB 1, was driven off a cliff in Acapulco. The wheels retracted and hydrofoils appeared as it cruised across Acapulco Bay. And that car LOOKED like a Rolls Royce from end to end. If you want to do an experimental car that would have people raving, why not do a contemporary version of FAB 1 - for my cash, still the sexiest Rolls around. Loved that glass surround roof. But the 100EX?...........nah."
 unattractive German car . . .

"Eeet is lovely, jaa? Vit das military shapes undt da severe angles, mit reminds me of de time of Herr Dokktor Karl Ropp, ven Ghermany vass schtrongg! Ropp-heil! Das Gherman aesthetic miss moscht misunderschtood: eees ist da karr of de Fadderland! Karr-heil! Please, please, please! This gargoyle is not a Rolls-Royce. This hideous rendition of ""Third Reich parade car"" is just a sick, Germanic dream of a Rolls-Royce. I have long-suspected the Phantom was Dr. Ropp's (famous BMW engineer - made it possible for Hitler's Luftwaffe to go father and faster in the London bombings during the 1930s) beyond-the-grave revenge for Germany losing WW II to England. This car, however, is proof abosolute: the scowling, slab-sided Phantom was bad. This thing . . . this is the ""Batmobile"" in a tuxedo; Aaaah-nold Schwarzennegger pretending to be graceful in a leather thong; or Uma Thurman without a face or breasts, but able to go entirely too fast on triple-sized legs. This car is an abomination. This car is not a James Young, a Windovers, a Barker, a Thrupp & Maberly, an H. J. Mulliner classic. This car is an overglamorized pimpmobile - as proven by the Phantom's popularity in USA Rap music videos. Surely Cadillac customizers had adequately covered that corner on that market?! ICK! FEH! BLECK! I want my *BRISTISH* Rolls-Royce from Crewe! Not this gargoyle from Dingolfden, GERMANY (assembled, of course, in the ""Goodwood"" plant, so it has the claim of a British car). When all others were bashing the new Chris Bangle BMWs, I must admit I liked them because they were, indeed, creative if perhaps a bit odd . . . . But Bangle and Co. have BUNGLED my RR: German designers clearly do not understand ""British"" any more today than they did 70 years ago. Still . . . we did win the war . . . . *sigh*"

I tend to disaggree with Adrian, I saw the car in Geneva and to me it's a failed effort to make a link with the old Silver Ghost. The polished hood and window frame really look ridiculous, and other styling elements such as the head lights don't work. Overall the car is far too big to maintain any elegance (this is what it shares with the normal Phantom), and the purple colour just makes it a very vulgar car, and I'm just wondering what sort of people would like to be seen in it. The V16 engine is just a response to Cadillac like anything you can do we can do better. I do hope that it will not enter into production.
 The most beautiful convertible ...ever.

The Phantom was a phenomenal beauty. This 100 EX has brought Rolls to a whole new level of desirability still. The same bullish good looks that made the Phantom an instant Icon. And no matter what they say , this car is definitely going into production . It looks way ready to woo the world.
