I still don't have the money to buy one of these!

When I was growing up in the Philadelphia area, there were used-car lots near me, on Old York Rd. and Broad St. One of these once had a 1940's Delage coupe (Guillore body?) But the biggest thrill was seeing a BMW 328 on one of these lots. It was stunning and charismatic, and had a leather strap to secure the hood (oops, bonnet). I was 15 yrs. old, and had enough money for two candy bars, but, darn, if one had bought that car then (1958),for about $1,100.00, what would it be worth now? Some other thoughts: This body surely must have influenced the designers of the Jag XK-120, nicht wahr? With regard to Bristols; the early Bristols 400 to 403 had the BMW-style radiator grille, aside from the engine and chassis. And,that wonderful engine made a glorious sound in race trim; the AC-Bristols dominated their class in SCCA racing in the late 50's and early 60's.
