Jack was an enthusiastic engineer who having acquired this car in a very poor state, the body having been chopped and generally abused for racing, did the major restoration to bring it back to its former glory. I was privileged to see this in his garage in suburban Cape Town where he also had an Aston Martin DB2 and Scott Flying Squirrel in process of restoration. His standard of workmanship was very high and he would make his own nuts and bolts to match the original. He also gathered all the news and clippings and compiled a full history of the car.
Unfortunately Jack died on the operating table at a young age whilst undergoing a heart bypass operation and the car was sold. Whoever bought the car got a wonderful part of history. I wonder what happened to the DB2 and the Scott?

Lovely cars - there is an example in the Southward Museum, in Paraparaumu, New Zealand.

A lovely conjunction of esthetics, engineering and craftsmanship. The restorer deserves our deepest gratitude.
