Why create this car if the 3 series already did that role? M3 has much mroe heritage than M4, and this is much uglier (not that any BMWs are nice to look at at all).

Also, Jag money pays for workers, and JLR's huge Asian success isn't just giving much more money to British industry and keeping many people in work, as well as getting more people in work with their proposed new plant, but if the Chinese factory gets the go ahead, then hopefully the production will keep on going here in the UK at the same rate and the less developed countries get a work force who know how to make quality cars!

Wordsworthian, BMW is splitting up the 3 series sedan/wagon and the coupe/convertible into the 3 series for the sedan/wagon and the 4 series for the coupe/convertible. I do agree that the X6 (and to a less extent X5/3) and the 5 Series GT are stupid cars which seem to be created just to fill an unasked for niche.

As for Jag, yes you are supporting UK manufacturing (as far as I'm aware JLR still make cars in the UK), though JLR being owned by an Indian company, not as British as you would think.

Where is the market for this car? I'm sorry, but this, the X6, the 5 GT, the supposed X4, the 1 Coupé, and practically the majority of the BMW range are in their own nonexistant market. I can't see people buying this for any other reason for the badge, but even then they fail to realise that BMWs are more common than Fiat on Britain's roads. And, in my opinion, as a Brit, Jaguar offer a range that doesn't only make sense, but has more of everything compared to the rival German car, and is cheaper. It also gives money to our own economy, and in these hard times, that it vital. I just fail to see where BMW are aiming with this. It is basically a 3-Series coupé with a slightly larger boot. That market doesn't exist. Look at how the Audi A5 sells and you'll see my point.
