 Corrections on the XJR-16 comments

The comments made about the XJR-16 that I have just read are very wrong.
The car did indeed have a much longer bell housing. I should know, I had to justify doing it to Tom Walkinshaw.
The tub was not extensively modified by EG composites, Eloisa Garza did make some radiator ducts, that was it. The chassis stayed the same as it was originally made at all times.
The front suspension stayed the same as it was used on the XJR-10 throughout its total life. That was all Tony Southgate designed. It was not a Ross Brawn designed part. Ross had nothing to do with the XJR-16. He was far too busy doing the XJR-14. Ian Reed and Dave Benbow were responsible for the design changes from the XJR-10 with the exception of some aero help from Mark Hansford in the Imperial Collage tunnel.

I worked on this project at TWR in the USA. Some corrections: The car was built with a shorter wheelbase by virtue of a shorter bellhousing (not a longer one!) I actually visited the pattern shop and foundry in the UK to assess the bellhousing was on schedule.

Another thing that is incorrect is the part that says the monocoque was 'virtually unchanged'. The tub was extensively modified by EG Composites in Indianapolis to allow much larger intercoolers.

Another big change for this car over the XJR10 was the front suspension was completely different. It was designed by Ross Brawn and internally referred to as the 'wide-track' front suspension with F1-style pushrods and rockers and superior geometry to take advantage of the Goodyear tires. (the XJR10 front suspension was designed around the Dunlops that were run prior to 1990. TWR US ran that earlier Tony Southgate front suspension in 1990 with Goodyears, while TWR in the UK ran the Ross Brawn suspension on their XJR11. We got it in 1991 when the UK switched over to the XJR16 that was totally designed by Ross)
