i definately wouldnt have put a live axle, leaf spring setup as a better launching setup over a coul sprung irs system, eilbeit a 25 year old system, although ford have gone to great lengths with their anti-tramp devices, but still, after driving in my dads falcon one tonner, its pretty bumpy without some weight in the back. the xr8 utes may have more power, but its the same story as it is with the sedans: they at least 150kg heavier than the ss utes so they need ot to be competitive. from the couple of races ive seen of the BRutes, the less weight and traction control of the holden utes usually gives them the start but the falcon utes put up a great fight and finish close to the top, even winning
