I don't think they're actually suggesting that the final car will have an F1 engine in it. The practicalities of such an assertion are pretty awful. I think they're just saying that that is what the concept is. So when/if it does make it to showrooms with an M5 sourced V10 (in a presumably hugely higher state of tune) the more ignorant observers will presume it's all based on the same engine. The power of suggestion.

I'm rather intrigued by the part about the V10 in the Williams having 700bhp. I'd imagine that figure should be nearer 1000. Maybe it's a true figure, indicative of why they had a relatively crap season.

For what it's worth I don't think it's a good road to go down for BMW. I've always thought that BMW should have a supercar to their name, purely as a halo car, but I'd imagine they'd have to make it a really great car to avoid losing sales to the 6 series. I could be wrong though.
