That seems like a fairly outlandish risk to be taking, spending $48million on the bond and then god only knows how many more millions developing a car when you don't even know if you'll be allowed to race for more than one season. I know it has been strongly rumoured in the past that the Direxiv project would effectively be a McLaren 'B' team helping develop new talent etc, but it doesn't seem in McLaren's nature to do something so bold and risky.
