I don't like the times! I don't listen to vinyl for the quality, I listen to it for that aura, that feeling that comes through only on a record. There's certain things that technology can never replace, such as soul and feeling. This is more than a hobby, it's a philosophy of life for me. It's why I do school papers, etc. handwrittten if I'm allowed, otherwise on a typewriter. Why when I write, I do it with a '52-vintage Parker fountain pen. Why my phone is a '60's vintage Ericophone, complete with rotary dial. Why my bike (stolen) was a restored '56 Schwinn. Why I have just as good a time listening to anything from Frank Sinatra to Benny Goodman to Fats Domino to Louis Armstrong and beyond as any modern music. Why I lust for the cars of yesterday. Why I don't even have a cell phone, am selling my iPod given to me as an x-mas gift, and have never used a flash drive. Why when I dress I look like a James Dean retread. Why half my wardrobe is original vintage stuff, not "retro"-styled new stuff. You triumph the progress of today, and that's fine. I, however, continue to triumph the soul of yesteryear.
