I'm a long-time Subaru owner (different Impreza's over the past 10+ years), so naturally I was interested in getting a better look at this horrific-looking successor. After an hour of driving around (2008 WRX sedan), I'm convinced that the Camry has a new competitor. Anything that may remind you of the old Impreza is gone. Technically, it's a "better" car: smoother, easier to drive, more comfortable, etc.. The problem lies in that there is exactly no character to the car. That and the fact that it doesn't handle *nearly* as well as any other Impreza in my memory.
It will do two things: alienate current fans, and not attract new owners (after all, why bother with an unknown when Honda & Toyota have been doing it better for 20 years?).
