Yeah you won't regret it. OS X isn't nearly as much of a memory hog as Vista either. And, again you can have Vista on your Mac anyway, so you get it all.
I do recommend getting a different mouse though. I really find the Apple mouse uncomfortable and irritating to use. Check out Microsoft's laser mouse. They're way better than any optical, as the laser is incredibly precise (good for FPSs)
