My power bill was about $800 last year. You're saying that my DVD player was responsible for 1/8th of my power consumption?

It might go on, but it will be fundamentally different. As the climate changes, it becomes harder to grow crops or raise livestock. Species that can no longer survive in their habitat die out, which effects whole ecosystems. Water supplies will be harder maintain. And people will have to move more than just a few metres up the beach. Go stand on a flat beach at the edge of the water at high tide and look inland and find where 20m elevation is. It'll be quite a fair bit further back than you think. 20m would flood or isolate pretty much the whole Sydney CBD.
